I took the girl out for a photo shoot in the front yard after work.  It’s been awhile since I’ve taken pictures of her or of anything, really.  I did a little post-processing in Lightroom on this set because they were a little flat right out of the camera.  One of these days I’m going to learn how to use Photoshop so I can make those eyes pop.

I took this photo on the boardwalk along the coastline of Mackinac Island.  I love how the ivy creates a frame, the gate and the cedar arbor create another and the door creates a third.  It’s one of my favorite shots I took during a recent visit there.

Sometimes a picture can look fantastic when you look at the little LCD screen on you camera.  I was really excited about this picture of Skipper until I uploaded it to my computer and saw that his eyes weren’t completely in focus.  I’m trying to work more in manual mode and still need a litte practice.  His whiskers are pretty sharp, though.

I love taking pictures with natural light, but I’m still trying to figure out which aperture works best for portraits.  This one turned out pretty decent because she stopped moving long enough so that there wasn’t any blur.  I had the lens pretty wide open at f/2.8 with the shutter speed set to 1/10.  This was one of the clearest of the bunch I took that afternoon.

A perfect moment caught while she was singing.  It almost looks like she’s holding a microphone, but that’s actually a PedEgg.

Taken last weekend at a local park.  I love the expressions on both of their faces.

This is the beast that notifies me every morning that I’m late for work.

This picture was taken last year, nearly a year ago to the day.  It was the last time I can recall the girl simply falling asleep where she lay.  It wasn’t nap time or bedtime.  She was just exhausted.

Last year I bought a 50mm f1.8 lens for my Nikon.  I took a walk around campus one afternoon on my lunch hour and snapped off picture of just about everything.

I’m so glad we took this picture of them.  My mother-in-law would be gone less than a year later.
