I took the girl outside for our Christmas card shoot this weekend.  I had heard we were due for a lot of snow and wanted to get some good pictures of her before everything was covered in white.  Even though nothing says Christmas quite like snow, I try to avoid taking pictures when surrounded by the stuff.  I’m still a novice when it comes to exposure and trying to meter my shots in a world of white is pain.

I love this face because it epitomizes what her relationship with the camera has become.  I’ve snapped thousands of pictures of her over the years and it’s gotten to the point where she’s no longer willing to humor me.  I captured a similar moment when taking this shot earlier this year.

While this picture didn’t make the cut for inclusion in the Christmas card, I like it all the same.  I had to bribe her with candy to keep the hood up.

I love taking pictures with natural light, but I’m still trying to figure out which aperture works best for portraits.  This one turned out pretty decent because she stopped moving long enough so that there wasn’t any blur.  I had the lens pretty wide open at f/2.8 with the shutter speed set to 1/10.  This was one of the clearest of the bunch I took that afternoon.

A perfect moment caught while she was singing.  It almost looks like she’s holding a microphone, but that’s actually a PedEgg.

This picture was taken last year, nearly a year ago to the day.  It was the last time I can recall the girl simply falling asleep where she lay.  It wasn’t nap time or bedtime.  She was just exhausted.

Another one from the archives.  It’s hard to believe a whole year has passed since I took this picture.  Another one of my favorites.

Undoubtedly one of the best pictures I’ve ever taken of her. Moments like these come and go so quickly.
